Police remove Airbnb ‘tenant from hell’ who squatted 500 days and wouldn’t leave unless owner payed $100,000

A woman who squatted in an Airbnb for 575 days has been removed from the property.

Elizabeth Hirschhorn had squatted in a mansion in Brentwood which is owned by Sascha Jovanovic, and refused to leave or pay the rent for the time she was there.

The Harvard graduate had booked a six-month-long stay in the property, which was attached to a $3.5 million mansion in Brentwood, Los Angeles.

When the period expired she refused to move, citing Covid-19, as well as what she claimed was an illegally built shower.

Not only that, but she even counter-sued Jovanovic for $100,000 to cover her ‘relocation costs’.

But the stay of the woman dubbed the Airbnb ‘tenant from hell’ has now been finally brought to an end after she was seen being escorted from the California property by police.

She also lugged a number of boxes out to a waiting white van, assisted by three male friends.

Jovanovic has since spoken to the Daily Mail now that Hirschhorn is finally gone.

He said: “I’m very relieved and also a bit overwhelmed.

“It was a long time coming but now she is finally out! This weekend is going to be very positive.”

But this may not be drawing to a close just yet, even though Jovanovic already put measures in place to make sure that Hirschhorn can’t come back.

His lawyer Sebastian Rucci explained that he had reached out to attorneys representing Hirschhorn over the weekend.

Rucci suggested that they cancel an upcoming hearing about the eviction now that Hirschhorn has been removed from the property.

But Hirschhorn’s attorney replied that she was only considering her move to be ‘temporary’.

After Rucci informed them that they had changed the locks at the house, Hirschhorn’s lawyer Amanda Seward claimed that they had ‘jumped the gun’, before going on to accuse Jovanovic of harassment.

An email from Seward to Rucci shared with the Mail read: “Ms Hirschhorn had discussed with me concern over the constant harassment and surveillance, and also the desire to get the things repaired that needed to be repaired.

“Subject to my discussions with Ms Hirschhorn, please be advised you have no authority to change the locks or to assume abandonment of the property.”

Rucci told the Mail: “We changed the locks when Hirschhorn left. Her lawyer responded that we jumped the gun as she intended to return after leaving.

“I responded that she was not allowed back, and the burden is now on her to go to court to regain possession.”

He added: “This lady has no shame.”

UNILAD has reached out to the LAPD for comment.
